TEHRAN, Sep. 30 (MNA) – An Iranian delegation took part in the 5th Europol-INTERPOL Cybercrime Conference at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.

Held on 27-29 September 2017, under the theme "Actively united for a safer cyber space", the three-day event took place in The Hague at the initiative of the International Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the European Union’s law enforcement agency, Europol.

The Iranian delegation participating at the event was headed by Colonel Hossein Ramezani, the police’s chief of international and legal affairs.

In addition to taking part in the conference, side workshops and meetings with counterparts from other participating countries, the Iranian delegation discussed the latest scientific, technical and legal experiences of the country in combating cybercrime, and exchanged views on the latest advances regarding the discovery and combating various types of cybercrime.

This joint initiative, first held in 2013, brought together heads of cybercrime divisions from around the world to further strengthen cooperation, including with partners from the private industry, NGOs, CERTs and academia.

This year’s event focused on cybercrime threats in 2017, financial aspects of cybercrime, current and emerging challenges (including ransomware, IoT, decryption and anonymisation), Internet governance, and Darknet market sites.
